9 Things to Expect in UST Architecture

UST Architecture
(not.so.chill. 1st month in USTe)

Hi guys! I'm really grateful that I'm writing this right now. :) That means that today, I'm quite finish with my plates and I could rest a bit. Having this rest is already a gift when you're taking this course. What I'll write here is all based in my one month stay here in USTe. :D

So, what to expect in UST, BS Architecture?
1. PLATES and PROCRASTINATION:
-If your lucky your TOA prof won't give you plates but I'm not that lucky. (BTW, even if he gives plates, he's still cool). AD Plates would be challenging and fun at the same time. You'll get to design many kinds of buldings/ houses.
TOA- Theory of Architecture (this subject will teach you terms in architecture)
AD- Architectural Design(more on application and drawing + model making)
My first AD scale model (Plate).
Concept: Twin sisters, beach house.
-Procrastination is really annoying and a hobby for some of us. The question is, how to PREVENT procrastination when you're an arki student? For me, when you're given your plate, you must first conceptualize it and make the model the next day. Don't wait for it till it's a day before the deadline. I guarantee you won't sleep just doing that plate.

2. SLEEPLESS NIGHT (for only a night)
-Just 1 month of stay here in UST and I already have 1 sleepless night because 2 of my plates are due the next day. It's also because my TOA and AD class are both in the same day and unfortunately they're both requiring us to pass a plate a week after. BTW we're given 1 week to finish a plate :). Because of my foolishness and martyr-ness (haha) I used elmer's glue with my TOA plate. The objective of that plate is for us to use 100+ cotton buds to make any structure. I advice that if you'll have that plate, use glue gun. Less effort. And I made this plate a day before our submission so GG.
TOA 1st Plate.
Clover shaped structure.
3. EXPENSES
-Expect so many materials to be bought on your first month. Tech pen set, T-square, Bristol boards, cutting board, pencils, compass, etc..) The minimum expense is 5k :) I suggest that you bring packed lunch so that you could save your allowance.
-I always buy my materials a Joli's because the ATEs there are so kind and approachable.
3 J's- Joli's, Jomar's and Joyce's @ P. Noval. When you're climbing the stairs, you'll see them outside the window.

Hallway lunch
4. Rain. Flood.
-Every lunch time, if you'll buy your materials at Joli's or eat out, always bring an umbrella. Expect rain. Any time. Any day.

5. New Environment. Friends. Lunch Buddies.
-In a block, I think after a month, you'll find the friends that you'd be with the whole year. BTW, you'll be shuffled after a year. (parang summer class na hindi summer class,i forgot ano yung tawag) In our block, it's been almost a month that we didn't have an English teacher. So free skip! <3 We always hang in Starbucks (iTower, P. Noval). Also, we always bring lunch and eat in our room.
Free Skip- when the prof is not there 1/3 of the period. You could leave the class. But skip at your own risk.
My Starbucks buddies! <3

6. Bring JACKET.
-Why bring jacket when I have my coat? lol. I think every room in Beato is really cold. In our room, the aircon is unpredictable and in other rooms, my friend used to wear 3 coats. :) But there would be also days that the aircon is so hot. Just call manong downstairs. :)

7. Free Skip. Earlier dismissal.
-Other profs dismisses at an earlier time because his/her lecture is over. :) and it's raining outside.

8. Away from civilization.
-Every building is far away from Beato. Being in arki, you'd be away from your friends in med/accountancy/eng'g. BUHOOO. BTW, Beato is the only building where students could use 2 of the elevators. If it's rush hour, probably 7am, expect a line in the elev.

9. Food trip.
-FOOD TRIIIP is <3. You must try Mang Tootz, but expect a line because that place is featured in Kris TV. So... :) And Milk Teas everywhere!!!! Japanese cakes, isaw, taho, tori box, university scoop and etc... <3 Explore P. Noval!
Bananarama @ Mang Tootz <3

Hope this helped! <3
When you enjoy drawing, designing and building...
arki is your course :)

Red Tour Manila

The Red Tour Manila
Taylor Swift Concert

I'm a proud Swifty. I felt so blessed for having a chance to go to Taylor's concert. Her concert was at the Mall of Asia Arena and we're seated at lower box A. Her concert was just AMAZING. Those costumes and song numbers are just so her. When she started singing her first song, "State of Grace", my cousin and I started crying. :) We were so happy. Finally, we got to see her sing live. We're such fan girls and we're proud of it. Everything was a blur and it's like you're in another dimension while watching her sing there. I know she sometimes look at us because we have letters written in our shirts and it's LED.

Here we are!!! :D

When we heard that there will be Club Red here in the Philippines, we really prepared for it. Sleepless nights with my cousins just to make our shirts. We're proud of our shirts. Really. Everything happened so fast inside the Arena. It was hard expecting something, when there was really nothing. But. Really. No regrets for us. It will be one of our most unforgettable experience.

While we're outside the Arena, many Swifties really dressed up for Taylor's concert. Many Swifties had paint on their faces, had "13" written on their hands, lyrics all over their arms, hand made shirts and lights everywhere. When we lined up outside, many people were looking at us. There were so many friendly Swifties that complimented us and even took a picture with us. We felt like artists that day. I guess even though there was no "Club Red" here in the Philippines, I'm still proud of what we wore that day. It was and it will be an unforgettable night for all of us.

I'll stop with the drama. Curious about our shirts? I call it "Project Club Red" but oh well, there's no Club Red so I'll just tell you guys how we made them. I designed the shirts and used red fabric paint. It took me 7 hours to paint all 4 shirts (front and back).

I'm lucky to have my cousins and shobe for agreeing to wear the shirt. We're so cute when we STAYed together the whole time we walked around. A night full of expectations. Like my cousin said: "Loving Tay was RED."

Thank you! Hope you enjoyed reading!

About the Pre-Concert party and #REDAsiaMovement:
Today, they posted the video compiled from 6 countries. Taylor went to these countries in her Red Asia Tour. And here's the video, find me! lol I look so funny. The place is small and we're just having the time of our life singing "We Are Never Getting Back Together". Swifties unite!

Red Hot Manila

RED HOT MANILA
For those people whose house is far away from Mall of Asia and who didn't got a chance to go there to attend Red Hot Manila sponsored by Air Asia, I tell you what happened there. If you'll compare Grand Fans Day that happened in SM North Edsa, Red Hot Manila is definitely not better than GFD. I will also tell you my reasons. (This is according to my POV, I think other people has their own so...)

First, what happened there?
What really sucks is that I came there 10AM and they said it will start at 10:30AM. We waited. Guess what? It started at around 11:30AM.  The funny thing is at first, they are only playing 2 songs. "Love Story" and "Teardrops on my Guitar". Then improved to "Taylor Swift" album. After an hour, the people from Odyssey came and I think they gave them "Red" album. :) Here are my screenshots of the place, and the events inside. There is no performance or anything. What will take your time is the LOOONG LINE! A person needs to get 5 stamps in order to join the raffle(VIP Ticket and other freebies). There are steps in order to get the stamp.
The view in the second floor. :D

Step 1: Download the AirAsia app. The line is so long because you'll fill up 2 forms. The first one for registration and the second one is for the raffle.

Step 2:  Sign up as an Air Asia member. While looking at the second floor picture I took, the longest line there will be THIS STEP.  There's only 2 computer and signing up as a member is really a hassle. So, what we did is we sign up using our phone via Wi-Fi then took a screenshot. So we didn't line up this long.

Step 3:  #TaylorSwiftViaAirAsia #RedHotManila

Step 4: There is a mini wheel beside this instagram section. Sample question: Where is Shanghai? (China)

THEN OFF TO A WINDY HUNT!

At first I didn't get this windy hunt thing.... But I will show you what it is..
The Windy Hunt!! Inside there are papers that have invisible ink written on it.
They said that you'll win VIP ticket but FTW there are so many papers. LOL
Why GFD is better than Red Hot Manila?
Grand Fans Day in North Edsa is really worth it! So, if you didn't have the chance to go to Red Hot Manila, don't be sad. Promise GFD is really more fun.
1.No performances. (If you'd gone to GDF, all out performaces and #RedAsiaMovement)
2.No ones interested with Piso Fair. Almost everyone who came here is just for TSwift's VIP ticket.
3.Other booths are not working (the instagram booth, when we came there it's not working)
5.Overpriced merch.
and a lot more reasons. :D

Even though the venue here is bigger, it only took us 30minutes to finish every steps. The event is dull but there are many cute Taylor Swift posters and standees.

Here are the other pictures:

Maleficent (Review)

Maleficent
directed by Robert Stromberg
movie review

Today, we watched Disney's Maleficent. It's just been 3 days since it's premier but everyone is already talking about this movie. So I'm here to tell you what makes Maleficent so special for all of us.

Maleficent is the untold story of the villain in the classic fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty". Everyone thinks that Sleeping Beauty is about an evil witch giving a little baby a spell that would kill her. That's the story told to us when we are still little kids. But what we know is 'not' the real story. The movie "Maleficent" will help us unravel the truth behind the fairy tale we once knew.

Angelina Jolie as Maleficent.
She played her role really well and amazed all of us.
Her face is the same as the classic's villain.
Her acting is exquisite and amazing.
Elle Fanning as Aurora.
She expressed the gentle, sweet, kind and graceful aura
like her character.

I liked the movie so much because of it's amazing plot twist. You can't really say what will happen next. And in addition to that, the serious story of Maleficent also has some funny parts in it. The story also told us about Maleficent's crow and how she got it. I won't spoil the movie. :) Watch the movie so you'll know <3

In the movie, you'll realize many lessons and in the ending you'll be touch. One of the lessons I realize that I must not let vengeance control me, but as the movie had shown. Vengeance itself is really hard to control and regret will come next.

I invite you guys to watch the movie with your family and friends.
It's a great movie!

Trivia:
The young Aurora is played by Angelina Jolie's daughter, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt.

Taylor Swift Grand Fans Day PH

"Starlight" Taylor Grand Fans Day

Swifties all over Manila(NCR) are gathered in SM North Edsa to join an event. It is called "'Starlight' Taylor Grand Fans Day". This event started 10am and ended almost  at 4:30pm. When the mall opened, everyone rushed to the 3rd floor of the mall and lined up to get free admission. I came from The Block(other part of the mall) and ran to SM City Center (where the event is). And here's what it looks like just 10 minutes after the mall had opened.
back line
front line

Once I came inside, they were giving away Candy magazine (featuring Julia Barretto) and Total Girl (featuring Jenette McCurdy and Ariana Grande) as freebies.

In addition to that, Skin White's booth was also giving away freebies. While in Ked's booth, there was a photobooth available for everyone.

Here are some pictures I took:

In the event, some Swifties sang their hearts out with Taylor's old and new songs. Everyone in the crowd sang with them. It was like a real concert in there and it felt like Taylor was with us during that moment. The event ended with #REDtourAsiaMovement where everyone danced all the way, while having "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" played as a background music. Laughter and wildness are shared in that moment. It's surely a day worth remembering. It was a wonderful experience because I've met so many good people/swifties there. Even though we bonded just a few hours, we instantly became friends.
See you guys again! <3

I want to thank our "kuyas" from Audiolineph Lights & Sounds for letting us sit and for looking out for our things while we join the #REDtourAsiaMovement <3 They are super kind and the sound system in the event is perfect.
